Video's transcription of Housing techniques (Real.Pascal Goblot)

Until now, your house has been made of traditional, even ancestral materials: built with bricks, with tiles for the roof and paint for the walls.

However, scientific developments are steadily transforming your home and way of life.

Soon your walls will not just be made from bricks, but built from green concrete, containing vegetable fibres for natural and eco-friendly insulation.

They might also be self-healing, thanks to what are known as "reversible" chemical bonds.

Some walls will be coated with a photovoltaic dye which produces energy, imitating photosynthesis in plants.

They will also contain small capsules which can regulate temperature throughout the day, by absorbing heat from the room and restoring it later.

Your tiles are probably already made of a material which lets water vapour through while remaining impermeable.

Inside your home, your windows will be able to change colour depending on the level of sunlight, and the paint on your walls will act as a switch, unless they are covered with luminous wallpaper, woven with optical fibres, just like your cushions or duvet.

Your bathroom will have hydrophobic surfaces which keep themselves permanently clean.

However, you should be wary of antibacterial cleaning products which promise automatic cleaning of your kitchen.

Finally, thanks to new plastic materials, your decorative objects will be able to move freely between a liquid and solid state, and change shape according to your needs and desires.

To summarise, the materials making up your future home will be filled with innovation and surprises...

... let's hope it will bring with it a little extra happiness!
