Getting to the Cité
INFORMATION FOR VISITORS
Access to the Cité des Sciences is affected at present by roadworks for an extension to the T3 tramway. At the same time, the esplanade in front of the Cité is being renovated and there is a temporary walkway to the Cité entrance. Full details about getting to the Cité are given on this page to help you plan your visit.
By public transport
Metro
Line 7, Porte de la Villette or Corentin Cariou station.
Bus
139, 150, 152, PC2, PC3 (Porte de la Villette stop)
During renovation of the esplanade…
> Please note: because of the renovation work, the entrance to the Cité is temporarily moved to the west of the building (see the acces map above). If you're coming to the Cité by metro or bus, bear in mind that you will have to walk a little further on arrival.
> If you're coming by metro (line 7) from central Paris, when you get to Porte de la Villette station take the exit by the front of the train, climb the stairs, then turn right and right again. If you're coming from La Courneuve, take the exit by the back of the train and then the same route. Once you're outside, just follow the signs to the Cité.
By road
Take the north Paris ring road (périphérique) and exit at "Porte de la Villette".
Car park
Entrances on Quai de la Charente and boulevard Macdonald.
Coach park
Entrance on boulevard Macdonald only. Free for 30 minutes for setting down or picking up passengers. Information and reservations: 33 (0)1 40 05 70 90.
Owing to the current roadworks :
The roadworks for the T3 tramway extension are causing traffic delays, so we advise you to allow ample time for your journey to the Cité.
By bicycle
You can cycle all the way from central Paris to the Cité des Sciences along special bicycle lanes.
Bicycle stands are available on the Cité esplanade, opposite the Hôtel Forest Hill.

By boat
You can also take a boat to the Parc de la Villette.
Canauxrama operates a shuttle service along the Bassin de la Villette (Jaurès metro station).Boats depart from 5 bis Quai de la Loire and Parc de la Villette, every 30 minutes from 11am to 6pm.
Paris Canal operates a service to the Parc de la Villette from the Musée d’Orsay.A spectacular 3-hour journey along the Seine to the Port de l’Arsenal (Bastille), and then through all the locks on the Canal Saint-Martin.
