Building with earth
Building with daub
Daub is a mud plaster made by mixing fine earth, straw (or other fibrous material) and lime. It is used to seal the spaces between wooden sections in walls.
Where is the daub method traditionally used?
Mud plastering developed in regions where wood was plentiful and with it carpenters. They used wooden load-bearing frames to raise half-timbered structures. This solid frame was essential since the earth used for the mud plaster is too fine to be load-bearing.
