Convergent sciences

Nanotechnologies involve the interaction of many fields: physics, chemistry, biology, electronics, etc. In the United States, specialists refer to "NBIC convergence", standing for Nanotechnologies (a set of techniques on an atomic or molecular level), Biotechnology (including genetic engineering), Information technology (with new data processing methods, such as the quantum computer, data transfer and storage, etc.) and Cognitive science (a number of disciplines aimed at the study and understanding of the processes of consciousness). Because of its interdisciplinarity, NBIC convergence results in many different applications. Applied to the living world, apart from the repair of damaged tissues and organs, it may allow us to improve human abilities. Transforming humans, making them immortal and producing superhumans are all projects related to transhumanism. Dream or nightmare?
