Puberty is the period when you're not really a child any more yet not quite an adult. It starts around 12 years of age. Girls usually enter puberty earlier than boys.
Puberty leads to lots of changes to the body and the way you think about things. It's all the fault of hormones, these substances which do stuff like causing body hair to grow or making breasts larger. It is not the easiest period in life by any means. There are even those who say it's the age of stupidity although it's not very encouraging to hear that sort of thing.
