The 100 km/h (62 mph) barrier has been broken! It was done by “Jamais Contente” (Never Settle) a battery-run vehicle, whose body was made of partinium (an aluminium, tungsten and laminated magnesium alloy). Camille Jenatzy, the Belgian racer achieved this feat in 1899 (with 105.88 km/h.) He ordered this vehicle, with a shell-like form, from the car designer Rothschild in order to break the world speed record. An environmental car before they existed….
