ISO Standards can help the environment

ISO 14001 is used to make sure that "Upstream" and "Downstream" the environment is not suffering.

Environmental safety is not only a question of modern production methods in respect to the machines and materials used. Also the management system plays an important role in safeguarding the environment. ISO 14001 is the internationally accepted standard for this. International Oil and Chemicals companies like Total have started the process to have all their operations "Upstream" (Exploration and Production) and "Downstream" (Refining and Marketing) as well as chemical plants certified by ISO 14001, a proactive, participatory process that involves leveraging information, feedback, dialogue, awareness-building and training.
