Earth - A planet without "replay" button

The Goal of Sustainable Development in Environment
"Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." This basic idea of the meaning of Sustainability from the United Nations is accepted all over the world. Its most easily understood part of that concept is the fact that we cannot destroy the environment of our planet we do not have a another one stored away, there is no "replay" button in this game.
The human impact on the environment in the world threatens to radically alter the planet, it threatens the lives of many species upon it, including the human species. One only has to realise that each year another 6 million hectares of productive dryland turns into worthless desert. More than 11 million hectares of forests are destroyed yearly.
Pollution due to the use of fossil fuels and other industrial processes sends carbon dioxide and other pollutants into the atmosphere, and is causing gradual global warming and is spreading health problems.
An improvement in the living standard of the people living today without the destruction of the environment is only possible with the sensible usage of all resources. Modern technology is the key to find a solution for this contradiction. Pollution-free transportation and energy production, better materials which are long-lasting yet easy to recycle, intelligent ways of building and managing resources, are all developed by scientists and companies all over the world. Their implementation will help to save the planet and its biodiversity for future generations.
