Border

Until 2nd January 2028

Borders shape our world. We cross, defend and sometimes fear them. But what are they exactly? What do they represent? And how do they affect people? By exploring the idea of borders, this exhibition at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie helps us understand and analyse the world around us.

The exhibition

Lay out your cards to explore the diverse reality of borders. Border uses real-world examples to demonstrate how boundaries shape our societies. From sorting and control to resources and inequality, cooperation and exchange, and conflict and refuge, around ten island-exhibits explore the multifaceted nature of borders. Through diverse tools and approaches, the exhibition underscores the role of geography and field research in understanding these divides.

Border brings together scientists, anthropologists, thinkers, artists and the public to explore the boundaries, inequalities and connections that define our world. By delving into these perspectives, the exhibition immerses visitors in today’s most pressing social and political challenges, inviting reflection, emotion and a reimagining of our relationship with space, each other and the world through a one-of-a-kind experience.
